Happy holidays! Giving and receiving gifts around the holidays should bring us joy and build anticipation. And yet, we often become stressed or overwhelmed when it comes to giving and receiving gifts. In this episode, Shelby and Krystal discuss how we can have a gospel perspective even in something like exchanging gifts. When we consider our responses to others in both giving and receiving gifts, we have an opportunity to display the generosity of God and His grace toward others. We hope this episode helps us all to reframe our thinking around how we exchange gifts this Christmas. What are the two topics you aren’t supposed to discuss at family gatherings? Most of us would immediately guess religion and politics, and some of us may intentionally stay away from these topics in public. But what if we could step into the political sphere in a way that honors God? In this episode, Dr. Patrick Schreiner makes a compelling case for why we should consider engaging in politics as believers. Shelby and Krystal chat with Dr. Schreiner about how the gospel changes the way we view politics and offers practical tips on engaging in politics in a way that honors Christ as King.  The opinions of guests on the Daily Grace podcast do not represent the opinions of The Daily Grace Co., and we do not necessarily endorse the resources that they recommend or mention on the show. We believe it is valuable to hear from a variety of guests, even if we do not agree in all areas. As always, the statements made by hosts and guests on the show should be tested against God’s Word, the only authority on truth. Many of us struggle to build deep friendships as adults. We might feel too busy, too nervous to be the first to say hello, or too anxious about being rejected or hurt to invest in others. But there is hope in the gospel that we can cling to as we build biblical friendships. In this episode, Krystal sits down with pastor’s wife, podcaster, and author, Christine Hoover to discuss the beauty of friendship and how to overcome the barriers we face to build it. We know the stories of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. We read the words of Moses and Paul. We seek to emulate women like Esther, Ruth, and Mary. But what about the lesser-known women of the Bible? How do their stories fit in the grand narrative of the Bible? And additionally, how should we see ourselves in light of these stories? On this podcast, Shelby and Krystal are joined by Nana Dolce, author of “The Seed of the Woman: 30 Narratives that Point to Jesus.” They discuss the biblical narratives of women like Hagar, Zipporah, and the widow of Zarephath to help us to see the gospel in all of Scripture. As Nana shares, you will hear her passion for the Scriptures as well as for teaching others. Her enthusiasm for God’s Word is contagious and we pray that this episode deepens your joy in the Lord. We all experience suffering in this life. Our world is fractured with sin and we encounter its effects regularly. Yet in the midst of suffering, we can find hope in the gospel. We can rejoice that we do not face the pain of this world alone and one day, the Lord will return and make all things new with no more grief and no more pain. In this episode, Shelby and Kyrstal talk with Colleen Chao, author of “In the Hands of a Fiercely Tender God: 31 Days of Hope, Honesty, and Encouragement for the Sufferer.” Her story is marked with pain and suffering as she experienced years of chronic pain, parenting a child with health complications, and a later diagnosis of stage four terminal cancer. But in the midst of her pain, Colleen reminds us of the comfort and love of God and teaches us to run to His Word no matter our circumstances.
