We know the stories of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. We read the words of Moses and Paul. We seek to emulate women like Esther, Ruth, and Mary. But what about the lesser-known women of the Bible? How do their stories fit in the grand narrative of the Bible? And additionally, how should we see ourselves in light of these stories? On this podcast, Shelby and Krystal are joined by Nana Dolce, author of “The Seed of the Woman: 30 Narratives that Point to Jesus.” They discuss the biblical narratives of women like Hagar, Zipporah, and the widow of Zarephath to help us to see the gospel in all of Scripture. As Nana shares, you will hear her passion for the Scriptures as well as for teaching others. Her enthusiasm for God’s Word is contagious and we pray that this episode deepens your joy in the Lord. We all experience suffering in this life. Our world is fractured with sin and we encounter its effects regularly. Yet in the midst of suffering, we can find hope in the gospel. We can rejoice that we do not face the pain of this world alone and one day, the Lord will return and make all things new with no more grief and no more pain. In this episode, Shelby and Kyrstal talk with Colleen Chao, author of “In the Hands of a Fiercely Tender God: 31 Days of Hope, Honesty, and Encouragement for the Sufferer.” Her story is marked with pain and suffering as she experienced years of chronic pain, parenting a child with health complications, and a later diagnosis of stage four terminal cancer. But in the midst of her pain, Colleen reminds us of the comfort and love of God and teaches us to run to His Word no matter our circumstances. We hear the word blessing frequently. We hear people refer to health, prosperity, and exciting opportunities as blessings. God certainly is the giver of all good gifts. But, if blessings are only material gifts to us, then we may feel confused when we walk through sickness, lack, and strife. We need a biblical definition of blessing. The Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, ties blessings into the presence of God. To be blessed by God is to be in His presence, not to receive presents from Him. The gospel assures us that all who are saved by grace through faith have the unbreakable promise of God’s presence in their lives. Therefore, we are blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ. And we can experience blessing even when our life’s circumstances are what Instagram would caption as #blessed. Come chat with us about what it really means to be blessed by God and how the gospel is the very best blessing we can receive.
