Money. It’s a topic that makes us squirm. But why? Money itself is neutral. The problem is when it becomes an idol or when we look to it to afford us a certain lifestyle. But the truth is, money has a subtle way of captivating our hearts. We need to be mindful of how we’re relating to it! We go to Scripture to find counsel in how to handle our money in a way that glorifies God. We are also joined by Rachel Cruz who offers us practical tips on how we should approach our money. Anger is an emotion that is deemed bad. We label people with frequent outbursts as “angry people”. Yet, there is so much more to this emotion! If we’re honest, most of us regularly struggle with anger; it just may manifest in different ways. The thing is, not all anger is bad. In Scripture, we see that God gets angry. He hates sin and injustice and that’s good news for us! So how can we engage with anger in a healthy way? Aubrey brings in her biblical counseling background and helps us work through this topic! Was 2020 a “wash”? What if 2021 is no different? As we end this unique year and look forward to the next, we need to remind each other that, no matter what, the year belongs to God. 2020 was His year, and 2021 will also be His year. This doesn’t mean we deny that things are odd or hard, but it does mean that we have to make efforts to keep the main things the main things. This is why we want to talk about setting Bible study goals. We don’t want our time in God’s Word to fall by the wayside! Take a few minutes and enjoy this spoken word. As we celebrate Christmas, we reflect back on the story of redemption. We see how God created the world and initiated the sweetest melody. All of creation was invited to join in harmony, but we know that sin has marred our ability to sing. The brokenness of this world now presents a song that is out of tune. But God! He sent His Son to restore this harmony, and He will come again. When He does, sin will be no more and His people will join Him in perfect harmony! Christmas is a few days away. Believers around the world are ready to rejoice in the truth that Jesus came, just as He said He would! Yet, there is still a longing in our hearts. We feel it this year more than ever. The cry of our hearts is, “Come, Lord Jesus!” We lean into the longing for Christ to return to fully redeem the brokenness and consummate His Kingdom! Today, we talk about this as we look at the cherished hymn, “Come Thou Long Expected Jesus” with three ladies from City Alight. What did God teach you in 2020? It’s been a unique year with highs and lows for each of us. Yet, God did not change. He continued to work in our world and in us. Today, 15 members of The Daily Grace Co. team share deep lessons learned from this past year. We share about confronting our lack of empathy for others to prayerless to anger and more. Our hope is to remind you that God is not done with us (or you!). He is still working! Jesus is the Savior of the world. Does that truth cause you to sing for joy? It is a simple but profound gospel truth that has widespread implications. We are joined by singer-songwriter, Sandra McCracken, and she explores the popular holiday song, “Joy to the World” with us. This is a song that has crossed the secular divide, but it is a song that points to the hope of Christ. The lyrics hold Advent themes as they call us to look back and remember what Christ has done and also look forward to what’s sure to come. When life gets hard, what is your hope? What helps you weather the storms of life? As believers, we will experience suffering and hardships on this side of eternity. We have to ask: what helps us persevere and not lose hope? The key is to set our eyes, hearts, and minds on eternity. This is really important, but even as believers, we may not know the why and how. In this episode, we talk about what setting our eyes on eternity means, and how we can practically do it in our everyday lives. Advent is around the corner. The joy of Christmas is starting to fill the air. This year more than ever though, many of us are feeling the tension between the suffering and heartache of this broken world and the joy of Christmas. “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day” is a beautiful Advent hymn that works through this dissonance, and singer/songwriter Caroline Cobb helps us navigate through the lyrics to uncover the beauty that is Jesus, the reason for the season. “Christians are closed-minded. They lack logic and reason.” Ever heard this? The truth is, believers can and should be deep thinkers. If we’re in Christ, we are redeemed: body, MIND, and soul! Faith and intellectual integrity go hand-in-hand! We should engage our minds and think deeply about Scripture, our beliefs, and our convictions. We should think deeply about the grey areas of life! We believe this helps us love God and love our neighbors better! But it takes humility, effort, and the help of the Spirit.
