The Daily Grace Podcast
The Daily Grace Podcast exists to encourage and equip women to seek God in His Word. Our goal is for women to know that deep Bible study, sound doctrine, and rich theology are not just for the seminary student or pastor, but are accessible and transformational for all believers. We want to invite women to join us in our conversation about our great God, and be encouraged to seek a deeper knowledge of God that leads them to live their lives for God glory as they grow in love and awe in response to who He is. The Daily Grace Podcast is a weekly podcast brought to you by The Daily Grace Co.

Endless waves of hard things going on in the world can cause us to ask if we are living in the end times. What actually leads up to the end? Should we be afraid? Some of us fear increased suffering. Others have a fear of missing out on experiences. Many fear impending judgment! But believers can face the end times with a deep anticipation for the return of Christ. No matter what we believe (premillenialism, postmillenialism, amillienialsm), knowing Jesus can return at any moment should compel us to live differently. Disagreements are hard, but they’re part of each of our realities due to our fallen nature. Maybe it’s a political or social issue. Maybe it’s a doctrinal issue. Maybe it’s a matter of personal conscience. There are a thousand things we can disagree on with others! So is there a way to disagree well? We believe there is, but it requires hard work. It requires humility and engaging in conversations with the goal of listening and learning. It requires acknowledging that we’re limited beings. And most importantly, it requires keeping the gospel central. Feelings can be complicated. Even within Christian circles, we can get mixed messages about how we should deal with our emotions. Today, Courtney Reissig reminds us that believers can truly engage with their emotions in a healthy + biblical way! This includes the “hard” feelings we may experience like grief, anxiety, and loneliness. We should feel something about the brokenness of this world! We don’t have to stuff our feelings or be enslaved to them. God’s Word can inform and shape our feelings! Who is the Holy Spirit, and what all does He do? Some people overemphasize the gifts of the Spirit, and others neglect the Spirit altogether. We need to have a biblical vision and understanding of the Holy Spirit in order to not miss out on what He has to offer us and to ascribe Him the honor/worship He deserves! The Spirit is an amazing gift, and He plays a tremendous role in the lives of believers. Let us respond to the Spirit, be filled by the Spirit, and walk in step with Him! “I’ll pray for you.” How many times have we said this and neglected to follow through? Can we actually develop a habit of praying for others? Today, we are joined by Maryanne Challies Helms, and she reminds us that we can be people who faithfully pray for others. She shares practical advice on how we can develop a habit of praying for others, and she gives encouragement for those who wrestle with the role of prayer and God’s sovereignty, unanswered prayers, and more. Exposure of our personal sins is humbling, hard, and sometimes painful. Often, we find that we try to cover up our sins or ignore them! Or maybe we’re just not aware of some sins lingering in our hearts! We can tend to deny or undermine our sins because we don’t want to feel shame or judgment. But in Christ, we believe that it’s a mercy for our sins to be exposed! It’s an invitation to turn our eyes to the cross, practice repentance, and be purified. This is a vital part of growing in godliness! Is a woman’s worth different than a man’s worth? Does Christianity devalue women? Elyse and Eric show us in their book how Scripture actually holds a high view of women as evidenced by the indispensable role women play in God’s overall plan of redemption. They continue their work by engaging in open and respectful dialogue on this charged topic of the value of women. We talk about why there are misperceptions about women inside and outside of the church, how we can practically celebrate women, and more. The gospel is not just for a certain demographic. We can know this in our heads, but sometimes, the way we live communicates a different message. Maybe we find ourselves withholding the gospel from people who are different from us. Maybe we think some people are “too far gone” in their sins to hear the Good News. Maybe we’ve been deeply hurt and don’t want the grace of God to lead the offending party to repentance. We can forget the gospel, and that it is indeed for all people! Many of us silently wrestle with negative body image issues. We feel pride or shame in how we look or don’t look. While it’s true that God looks at our hearts and cares for the eternal well-being of our souls, He also made us as whole persons with physical bodies. What God said is “good” became distorted with sin. But the gospel offers us true freedom even here. Jesus can overcome the heart issues related to body image. We can find our worth, not in our outward appearances, but in our union with Christ! Someone you know is grieving or suffering. This is true for all of us. And the thing is, we want to be people who love and encourage others well in all seasons of life, even the hard ones. But we wonder: “What if we say the wrong thing? What if we make them even sadder? What if it’s really awkward? Could we really offer any sort of comfort?” In this episode, we get really practical about things we can say and things we can do when we’re walking with others through their grief and suffering.
